1000 orphans thrilled at CMG’s Celebrity Easter Funfair

Over 1,000 orphans from six orphanages in the Greater Accra Region converged on the Efua Sutherland Children’s Park in Accra on Good Friday, 19 April 2019, to participate in the third edition of Class Media Group’s (CMG) Celebrity Orphanage Easter Funfair.
CMG, owners of Accra-based Class91.3FM, Accra100.5FM and No.1 105.3FM, as well as Adehye FM and Kumasi FM in Kumasi in the Ashanti Region and Ho FM 92.5 in the Volta Region and CTV, have supported orphans during the Easter festivities since it starting operations over three years ago.
The orphanages are Chosen Home, Potters Village, New Life, Philadelphia, Great James, Save them Young.
The children underwent screening for Malaria and Hepatitis B as well as had their Body Mass Indices (BMI) taken and fully treated by Greenfield Scientific Herbal Clinic where necessary.
Medi Moses Diagnostics Centre also conducted oral examinations for the orphans while Newstar Ear Centre gave them ear examination and education.
The orphans socialised and got entertained by some selected Ghanaian celebrities including musicians Kidi and Krymi, actress Lucky Lawson; Perpetual Acquah Ammuaduaa, Miss University Africa 2018 who is also Miss Commonwealth Ghana’s 3rd runner-up; Silvia Naa Morkor Commodore, 2nd runner-up of Miss Universe 2018; and Akorfa Daniella Awumah, Miss International Africa 2017. Musicians such as Kwame Eugene, Joe Frazer, Akatakyie, Kurlsongs, Mr Dreaw, Yaw Berk were all expected to join in the funfair.
The children also rode motorbikes and played on the trampolines and bouncy castles provided by Kids City.
They also took part in a quiz competition, sack racing, 50-metre dash, choreography, football penalty shootout and basketball games. Donations were allocated for each of the orphanages.
The items include clothes, shoes, toiletries, bags of rice, bags of sugar, gallons of cooking oil, tin tomatoes, drinks, biscuits, sachet and bottled water.
The Bone Dance Band was also present to entertain the elated orphans with live band performances.
Mrs Barbara Oduro-Toku, Project Manager of CM, said that the Celebrity Orphanage Easter Funfair is part of CMG’s corporate social responsibility aimed at supporting the less-privileged in society.
She hinted at plans by CMG to roll out more exciting events.
Meanwhile, the Head of Events at CMG, Mr Bismarck Boachie (DJ Premier) noted that plans were underway for the institution of a GHS100,000 project for the orphanages.
