President Nana Akufo-Addo, has tasked African leaders to desist from attributing the current developmental challenges facing the continent to colonial trade.

Mr Akufo-Addo advised Africans to rather find a lasting solution to challenges by engaging in productive transactions for improvement.

He was speaking on Saturday, 8 September 2018, at the African Green Revolution Forum (AGRF) 2018, held in Kigali, Rwanda, on the theme "Lead. Measure. Grow. Pathways to Turn Smallholder Farmers into Sustainable Agribusiness."

The AGRF seeks to engage stakeholders in the agriculture industry across the globe to deliberate effectively on ways of making the industry thrive.

This year's event was held to create new pathways to boost agribusiness across the continent.

Mr Akufo-Addo said proper investment in the agriculture industry would not only ensure food security but job creation. He recounted the improvement in Ghana's agriculture sector following the introduction of government’s Planting for Food and Jobs (PFJ) programme.

On his part, President of Rwanda, Paul Kagame, said Africa has the necessary avenue to succeed in agriculture. He however wants an effective public - private sector involvement in the business to unleash the enormous potential in the sector.

Several heads of states were present at the programme and they engaged in a panel discussion with former prime minister of Britain,Tony Blair, acting as the moderator.
